What Have You Missed? Update on MBA Activities
The MacArthur Business Alliance (MBA) has spent the past two years revitalizing efforts to foster cooperation and collaboration among Long Island businesses. The Alliance has acted as advocates for the improvement and growth of the Long Island business community and have been instrumental in keeping business owners and community members informed on issues of key importance to all Long Islanders. We continue to establish and develop positive and productive partnerships among Long Island businesses, non-profits, schools, and residents.
The MBA has held events and presentations covering a wide array of topics. We convened local government officials to discuss the infrastructure plans and visioning for the future of the Town of Islip and Suffolk County. After Congress passed the Tax Reform Act, the MBA featured a panel of local CPAs to discuss the impact of the law on businesses in our area. A business coach talked about connecting with your customers, and a leading economic investor (who has been featured on Fox Business and MSNBC) spoke about the current and projected economic climate and how that will impact our members. Property owners have had the opportunity to learn about the sewer district, the development of the Ronkonkoma Hub, and the plans for the Vets Highway Corridor. This doesn’t include our golf outings and summer socials – both of which are always such great fun.
Unique MBA Events
In 2019, we hosted our first Business Resolution Workshop. The Alliance believes that beyond the typical networking structure there is an opportunity to develop an even stronger network: one that exists to foster deeper learning and broaden your exposure across a range of issues. This setting offered an intimate networking opportunity for members of the MBA to get together, enjoy a light breakfast, and discuss the issues that are impacting our individual businesses. We also offered our first Social Media Workshop, recognizing that online marketing plays a vital role in this contemporary era. In the new digital age, social media marketing has become an indispensable tool in creating brand awareness. This workshop helped attendees learn the tools, tips and tricks of using social media platforms to help grow their businesses.
Our presentations always cover a large cross-section of interests, and our intimate settings allow our members the time to network and the ability to ask specific questions about the topic at hand. We are receptive to our members’ needs and look to provide the most relevant content we can in a timely fashion. We also welcome feedback from our members, and work to implement programs that reflect the interests of our membership.
